Dental implants

An implant replaces the root of a lost tooth and lets us rebuild it without touching the neighbouring teeth. We plan the procedure from a 3D scan and use surgical guides so the implant sits exactly where it should and the surgery stays as gentle as possible. We work with Neodent, MegaGen and Straumann systems.

This is the price with a dentist starting out in implantology; with an experienced surgeon it is higher — we will tell you at the consultation.

When an implant is the answer

We decide after an examination and diagnostics: if you do not need an implant and there is a better way to restore the tooth, your dentist will say so.

When implant treatment fits

  • One or more teeth are missing — an implant restores them without touching the neighbours.
  • The tooth is badly damaged and can no longer be saved.
  • A removable denture is uncomfortable, slips or rubs.
  • When many teeth are missing, implant-supported options are possible, including All-on-4 or All-on-6.

When preparation is needed first

  • There is gum inflammation or decay — treatment and professional hygiene come first.
  • There is not enough bone — a bone graft or a sinus lift may be needed.
  • There are conditions that may affect healing — the decision is made individually after a consultation.
  • The jaw is still growing — implants are placed once growth is complete.

Implant systems

We work with Neodent, Straumann and MegaGen implant systems. Your dentist chooses the right one for you, taking into account the clinical situation, the volume of bone and the plan for the restoration.

How the system is chosen

  • The dentist chooses the system for your case, not by a single template.
  • The clinical situation and the volume of bone are taken into account.
  • The plan for the future restoration is taken into account.
  • All three systems are suitable both for a single tooth and for restoring a whole jaw.

What the price depends on

  • The price depends on the implant system chosen and on the clinical situation.
  • It also depends on whether a bone graft, a sinus lift or soft tissue surgery is needed — those steps are charged separately.

How implant treatment goes

On average the treatment takes 3–4 visits over several months. Most of that time is the implant integrating into the bone. The timeline is individual and depends on the clinical situation.

STEP 1Consultation and 3D scan

Examination, imaging, assessment of the bone. The result is a plan with an exact price.

STEP 2Preparation

Hygiene, treatment of neighbouring teeth and, if needed, a bone graft.

STEP 3Placing the implant

The procedure is done under local anaesthetic, with a surgical guide where needed. It usually takes 40–60 minutes, after which you can go home.

STEP 4Integration

The implant integrates into the bone in 3–6 months on average. A temporary restoration can be fitted for that period if needed.

STEP 5Crown

A digital impression, an individual abutment and a zirconia crown matched to the neighbouring teeth.

Who places implants

Three of our dentists place implants to the same protocol. Which of them you choose affects only the price: with Albert it starts at €1,499 all-inclusive, with a more experienced surgeon it is higher.

Frequently asked questions

Does placing an implant hurt?
The placement itself is done under local anaesthetic and does not hurt. For 2–3 days afterwards there may be aching and swelling — an ordinary painkiller, which we prescribe, takes care of it.
How long does an implant last?
With proper care and regular check-ups an implant can last for decades. The crown's lifespan depends on the load, the material, the bite and hygiene — it may need replacing over time.
Can an implant be placed straight after an extraction?
Sometimes, yes — that is immediate implant placement. It is possible when there is no inflammation and enough bone. We decide from a 3D scan before the extraction.
How do I look after an implant?
Like your own teeth: a brush, interdental brushes or a water flosser, and professional hygiene twice a year. The main risk to an implant is inflammation of the gum around it.
Does Tervisekassa cover implant treatment?
Implant treatment is not part of the Tervisekassa dental benefit. The benefit can be used for preparatory treatment and hygiene; for the implant work itself, instalments of up to 120 months are available.
