Prosthetics and veneers

We restore the shape, function and appearance of teeth: from a single crown to a full jaw. We choose the restoration after an examination and an X-ray — there is almost always more than one option, and they differ in how long they last and what they cost.

What and when

Different problems call for different restorations — and not always the most expensive one.

When a crown is needed

  • The tooth is badly damaged and a filling will no longer take the load.
  • A tooth after root canal treatment — it becomes brittle and prone to chipping.
  • A large part of the tooth wall has broken away.
  • A tooth on an implant needs restoring.

When a veneer is enough

  • The tooth is sound, but you are not happy with the colour, the shape or small chips on the edge.
  • There are gaps between the front teeth.
  • Discolouration that whitening does not shift.
  • You want a result in the smile zone while the chewing teeth are fine.

How the work goes

STEP 1Consultation and X-ray

The dentist assesses the teeth and the supporting tissue and offers options that differ in lifespan and price.

STEP 2Preparation

If needed — root canal treatment and building up the core. At this stage the final scope of the work becomes clear.

STEP 3Impression and manufacture

An impression is taken and the work is made in the laboratory. A temporary restoration is fitted in the meantime.

STEP 4Try-in and fitting

We check the fit, the colour and the bite. Only then is the work fixed permanently.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a crown last?
With good hygiene and regular check-ups — years and decades. The lifespan depends greatly on the material, the load and the condition of the tooth under the crown.
Does the tooth have to have its nerve removed for a crown?
No. A living tooth under a crown lasts better, so the nerve is kept wherever possible. It is removed when there is a reason to, not by default.
How is zirconia different from metal-ceramic?
Zirconia is strong and does not leave a dark line at the gum over time; metal-ceramic is cheaper. The choice depends on which tooth it is — a back tooth or one in the smile zone.
Do veneers ruin your teeth?
A thin layer of enamel is removed for a veneer, and that is irreversible. So a veneer is a solution to a specific problem, not a cosmetic procedure to “try out”. Sometimes whitening or a composite restoration is enough.
